Chief Financial Officer

At dentsu Benelux we're looking for a Chief Financial Officer to join our team!

The role key responsibilities are to provide leadership to the Finance function in the Market in the areas of Commercial Finance, Controllership, Operational Finance, and transformation. Market CFO is a key Cluster Finance leadership role with a strong commercial, control and transformation emphasis, as well as senior member of the Market senior leadership team and the Cluster Finance leadership team. The job holder is expected to play a key role in defining the strategic evolution of the business, be a trusted advisor to the Market CEO and its leadership team. He/she supports the achievement of the revenue while ensuring the profitability targets are achieved. The job holder is expected to balance business growth with ensuring a strong Control & Compliance environment. Transformation is a key part of the role. The job holder is expected to be a strong contributor to the Market transformation across the Business and Finance function.

Growth & Strategy

  • Advises on key business decisions through sound commercial judgement, highlighting options, trade-offs, risks and opportunities as a senior member of the management team.

  • Supports the growth and reshaping of business portfolio in line with the company strategy around growth and profitability and business model.

  • Leads the finance teams in providing financial insights to the business on key leavers for our market.

  • Is responsible for the short and long-term budgetary planning and cost management.

  • Works collaborative with the management teams of the Practices in the market to make sure the budget is accurate, ambitious yet reflects the reality of the market and is in line with the vision of the company.

  • Prioritizes KPIs and tracks performance against internal targets making timely interventions as appropriate.

Control & Compliance environment

  • Role model Control & Compliance mindset.

  • Responsible for external audit input from the market in a timely manner, integrity of financial statement including balance sheet accounts and internal audit sign off at market level, and Management of cash requirements, working capital and working capital improvement initiatives.

  • Secures compliance with Group policies, control and government requirements are met within the market


  • A critical part of role is change management and transformation.

  • Ensures the implementation of the continuous transformation, improvement and change programs to achieve benefits for market.

Finance function leadership

  • Direct responsibility for performance and career development for market finance team.

  • Manages and develops a high performance and commercially focused finance team in our market.

  • Builds and develop finance capabilities, increase efficiency and the value add of the Finance team. Embeds client profitability and excellent commercial judgement in business decision-making.

  • Member of Cluster Finance Leadership team, expected to be a key contributor to the team through active idea- and best-practice sharing.


  • 10+ years’ relevant experience across finance disciplines

  • Strong commercial edge

  • Expert level financial analysis skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Strong leadership and excellent teamwork experience

  • Fluent in English and Dutch

  • Strong service industry familiarity

  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Great business partnering capabilities and strong at stakeholder management

  • Experience of pricing and negotiation

  • Experience with working in global matrix organizations

  • Strong knowledge in both IFRS and local GAAP accounting

  • Transformational experience will be assessed as an advantage
